Wed, Jan 28, Day 3 of the Year of the Ox

The oxen are slow but the land is patient.

No money yet, just promises from Social Security. So far I believe the promises. Starting in February, money is to arrive every 4th Wednesday. Sure sounds good. I'm working on increasing the amount by proving I was married ten years. It is work, too... However the 12 year marriage was sometimes very difficult. I do feel I have earned whatever I get. (If anybody cares what I think!)

Today, Sunday, Jan 25, '09, I'm just taking a break. Tomorrow begins the Year of the Ox. Maybe it has already begun if you consider time zones...

Jan 15, 2009

For many, it's mainly M.L. King's birthday to be celebrated Jan 19.

Bill & Sue are in town because of Cabin 5. Last night TBCOA had a qtrly mtg. I wish I felt more energetic. However, I'm muddling through.

Matt's in a foul mood. Ha. What's new? He's losing weight. At least he's got an excuse.

Retirement on a shoestring

Applied for Social Security benefits. It was supposed to take 15-30 mins if you have all your information available. I did. It took 2 hours, mainly due to dial-up slowness. I sure hope I did everything correctly. I can sure use the income.

Interesting side effect-- I had to begin going through my dusty clutter to get to old files. What do people do when they throw out all their old paperwork? Probably live in nice clean spaces.

Friday, January the "two-th", 2009

Interesting shoppers out today. Maybe they are usually at their jobs. Misty weather.

I bought 3 calendars today at Grocery Outlet for $.99 each. Chinese of course. I'm not very affluent just now. The paper is really thin, but the better calendars at Long's were $13.99 minus 25%. That's $10.50 before tax. No wonder California is having financial trouble with people like me spending less than $3 when I could spend less than $11. Sorry Arnold. That's life in the slow lane.
