John Buys a Boat

John showed me his new "boat" a few days ago. He found it at Last Chance, the recycling center at the local dump.

It had a hole in it. I said "Maybe you can use it as a decorative item." But he had attempted to fix the hole.

He had painted part of it red (the bottom). I told him that the Last Chance had a lot of choice in paint the day before. Just a few minutes later, he drove off--maybe to Last Chance.

Yesterday, I saw the boat (a dinghy) & it looked pretty good from a distance. Very Vincent Van Gogh. Red & Yellow. Cheerful.

Dueling Paintbrushes & The Lavender Cat

I'd been thinking about painting the railing at the entrance stairs & found a pretty good green free at Last Chance. Today, I got my "last chance".

Carol's worker, Rob, was using up some of her paint on her bench that has been next to the front entrance. Call it psychedelic orchid or periwinkle purple--to me, it still looks out of place where the bench is now.

And Raj, the overly friendly cat, kept company with Rob who was painting the bench. Raj now has a few nice purple designs around his head & shoulders.

So I decided this had to be the time to paint the railings. Sorry, but I really really did not want to see periwinkle purple railings at the entrance. Tomorrow or soon, I'll do a second coat. And I'll see about taking another photo.

Quarterly Meeting

The past week has been dull yet stressful. There is a two-week intense time going on with the planets being lined up. Eclipses and much more. Much stronger than the "Harmonic Convergence" of a few years ago when nothing much happened.

Now we get to embrace or endure another neighborhood meeting.

Stay tuned to this channel (and check this date again later) for any interesting dynamics...

Tues, 10/11/2005:

Everyone was on their best behavior. Very little to report.

We'll see if anything comes of plans made at this meeting. Next month we get to meet again to continue working on the condo project.

Oh goody--I can hardly wait.

The Sunday Painter (Oct 2-5, 2005)

Sunday, Oct. 2:

Two weeks ago, Matt said he was going to paint the house, then last week he was not going to paint the house.

This morning he said "I'm going to paint the house today."

Since it was already nearly noon, I said things like, "Why don't you clean off all the cobwebs today, then paint tomorrow." It would have taken me a day just to do the cobweb cleanup. Not Matt.

I went outside to clear plants & bricks that were in the way (and in danger of being painted). I removed the mailbox and put tape over the house numbers. Then trimmed plants that were in the way.

By 1 pm, Matt was painting. I think he stopped at 5. He'd painted the south side and the front. ...And a ladder to use up the extra paint in the bucket.

Monday, Oct. 3:

Painting Project (red part) finished, including the storage shed. Now just a little trim.

Wednesday, Oct 4:

FINISHED !

"Good Fences Make Good Neighbors"

Slow day. The Carol-John fence was installed. Landscape workers were here.
